8.00 pm - Oscailt Oifigiúil/Official Opening by Patsy Hanly, renowned traditional flute player and TG4 Gradam Ceoil Award winner.

8.30 pm - Breandán Breathnach Memorial Lecture: When It All Started: The Traditional Music Landscape of 1973. Presented by Nicholas Carolan, co-founder and first Director of the Irish Traditional Music Archive.

Venue: Community Centre for both events.

 

9.30 pm to 1 am - Céilí with the Brian Ború Ceilí Band at The Mill Marquee, GAA Grounds 

9.30 pm to 1 am - Céilí with the Dal gCais Céilí Band at the Quilty Tavern

Dé Domhnaigh 3ú Iúil - Sunday 3rd July

12.15 pm - Aifreann i nGaeilge/Mass in Irish at St. Joseph's Church, Miltown Malbay.

 

3.00 pm - Musical Tribute at Willie Clancy's Grave, Ballard Road.

5 pm to 7.30 pm - Information exchange: students meet staff at the Community Centre, Miltown Malbay.

 

8.00 pm - Éire 's Alba. A concert celebrating the links between Gaelic Scotland and Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy agus á chraoladh beo ar RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta. Venue: Community Centre. This concert will feature the premiere of Ómós Ceoil - 50 Bliain Faoi Bhláth, music composed by renowned uilleann piper and flute player Louise Mulcahy to celebrate the 50th Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy.

 

9.30 pm to 1 am - Céilí with the Dal gCais Céilí Band at The Mill Marquee, GAA Grounds 

9.30 pm to 1 am - Céilí with the Taylor's Cross Céilí Band at the Quilty Tavern

Dé Luain 4ú Iúil - Monday 4th July

9.00 am - Assembly at the various class venues.

10 am to 1 pm - Classes and Workshops (see location details on information page).

2 pm to 3 pm - Classes in spoken Irish and Scots Gaelic.

3.00 pm - Lecture: From New France to La Belle Province: Québec’s Traditional Soundscapes. Presented by Professor Gearóid Ó hAllmhuráin, School of Irish Studies, Concordia University, Montréal.

The lecture will be followed by a screening of Gearóid's film 'The Lost Children of the Carricks'.

Venue: Community Centre.

 

5 pm to 7 pm - Harp Recital. Venue: Mill Marquee, GAA Grounds.

7 pm - Screening of documentary on the life and music of renowned fiddle player Seán Keane, formerly of Ceoltóirí Chuallann and The ChieftainsVenue: Community Centre.

8.00 pm - Fiddle Recital. Venue: Community Centre. 

 

9.30 pm to 1 am - Céilí with the Kilfenora Céilí Band at The Mill Marquee, GAA Grounds 

Dé Máirt 5ú Iúil - Tuesday 5th July

3.00 pm - Tribute to Bobby Gardiner, master accordion player, tutor, TG4 Gradam Award winner and author. Presented by Ciarán Ó Gealbháin, traditional singer, musician and lecturer in the Department of Folklore and Ethnology at University College Cork. Venue: Community Centre.

5.30 pm - Ceolchoirm Idirnáisiúnta/International Concert featuring  traditional music, song and dance from Scotland, Wales, Québec and Brittany. Venue: Mill Marquee, GAA Grounds.

8.00 pm - Whistle and Flute Recital. Venue: Community Centre. 

 

9.30 pm to 1 am - Céilí with the Tulla Céilí Band at The Mill Marquee, GAA Grounds 

Dé Céadaoin 6ú Iúil - Wednesday 6th July

10 am to 1 pm - Classes and Workshops

2 pm to 3 pm - Classes in spoken Irish and Scots Gaelic.

3.00 pm - Lecture: Bill Stapleton and the Irish Recording Company. Presented by Harry Bradshaw, former producer with RTÉ Radio and researcher in Irish traditional music. Venue: Community Centre.

 

5 pm to 7 pm - Banjo Recital. Venue: Mill Marquee, GAA Grounds.

6.00 pm - Screening of Porter Och Pipa, a film made in 1965 by Swedish film maker Lennart Malmer, which features fascinating footage of many musicians including Willie Clancy himself. Lennart will attend the screening. 

Venue: Community Centre.

 

8.00 pm - Uilleann Piping Recital. Venue: Community Centre. 

 

9.30 pm to 1 am - Céilí with the Kilfenora Céilí Band at The Mill Marquee, GAA Grounds

Déardaoin 7ú Iúil - Thursday 7th July

2 pm to 3 pm - Classes in spoken Irish and Scots Gaelic.

2.30 pm - Lecture: Welsh Medieval Harp Music: Structures and Parallels with Irish Music Traditions. Presented by Dr Paul Dooley, an expert on the metal-strung Irish harp and researcher in harp tuning and string-making techniques, and Ceri Owen Jones, Welsh harper, singer and researcher in traditional medieval Welsh music. Venue: Community Centre.

 

4.30 pm - Button Accordion Recital. Venue: Community Centre.

8.00 pm - Old Style Step, Sean-nós and Set-Dancing Recital. Venue: Community Centre.

 

9.30 pm to 1 am - Céilí with the Tulla Céilí Band at the Mill Marquee, GAA Grounds

2.30 pm - Screening of Dark Horse on the Wind, a feature documentary on the life and songs of singer / songwriter Liam Weldon. Presented by Myles O’Reilly, director, and Lorraine Kennedy, producer. Venue: Community Centre.

 

7 pm to 10.30 pm - CEOLCHOIRM CHUIMHNEACHÁIN MUIRIS Ó RÓCHÁIN  Muiris Ó Rócháin Memorial Concert Láithreoir / presenter: Muireann Ní Dhuigneáin. Venue: Community Centre.
